Almonds: Australia scores record exports

MADRID/CANBERRA. Experts report a good almond harvest in Australia. Export volumes could even set a new record.

China gets more than 50%

According to the latest report of the INC, around 103,000 metric tonnes of shelled almonds were produced in Australia in the 2019/2020 season. As the Almond Board of Australia states, 62,445 metric tonnes of almonds* were shipped overseas in the first seven months of the 2019/2020 season (March to February). This is 1,500 metric tonnes more than in the entire 2018/2019 season (60,894 metric tonnes in 12 months). With exports almost doubling, June was a particularly strong month.
