Hazelnuts: buyers are not amused

ORDU. As hazelnut prices have hit an all-time high in Turkey buyers are far from amused. Ferrero’s recent bids have given rise to chaos at the most inconvenient time possible for suppliers returning form the Gulfood exhibition in Dubai.

Crazy price movements

Although last week’s Gulfood exhibition mainly attracts visitors from India and Pakistan, which are not leading hazelnuts importing countries, the trade fair does provide important insights into how demand will play out in the second half of the season. Recent events have, however, left attending hazelnut suppliers from Turkey absolutely stunned. Trouble is that crazy prices movements made it impossible for them to have fruitful talks with potential customers.
