Grains: Prospects in Germany are worse than expected
BERLIN. In the recently published second crop report, the German Farmers’ Association (DBV) has lowered its production estimates for grains and rapeseed considerably. The harvest campaigns are progressing speedily, but the damage caused by drought is much worse than expected. Debates are heated in Germany and feed supplies will certainly run low.
Grains and Rapeseed: Production to drop by 10%
BERLIN. Drought has prompted the German Farmers’ Association to slash grain production estimates to as little as 41 million mt. This year’s production will again range well below average. Many farmers have even decided against harvesting their crops and to chop their grains instead. President Joachim Rukwied explains the situation.
