Spices: Production declined in 2017/18
GUJARAT. According to the Spices Board of India, national spice production in 2017/18 reached a total of 8.4 million mt - a decrease of 2.3% over last season. The heavy monsoon floods in Kerala, which have killed more than 160 people and forced more than 200,000 people to leave their homes, also has a notable impact on the pepper market.
Spices: Turmeric farmers heading towards record sowing figures
GUJARAT. Scarce availability has caused pepper prices to increase, while farmers are in the process of ploughing vast areas of arable land with turmeric and cardamom traders are being met with substandard import goods.
