Cherries: Hungary has reduced exports of canned produce by 17%
FRANKFURT/ANKARA. Top cherry producer, Turkey, was able to start the export season about two weeks earlier this year. Due to good production prospects and stable demand, market participants are hoping for record exports.
Cherries: Production is to double
WIESBADEN. The Federal Statistical Office of Germany (Destatis) has announced the preliminary estimates for the 2018 crop. Due to the warm and dry weather in Spring the growers in Germany are reckoning with a crop of 61.100 mt. This more than doubles last year’s production.
Kiwis: Exports decline in Italy
ROME/WELLINGTON. The growers in New Zealand have finally won their case. The high Court has now ruled that the Ministry of Primary Industry (MPI) is to be held responsible for allowing PSA to enter the country from China in 2009. In a recently published report the USDA reckons that the 2017/18 production in Italy is not as bad as expected.
